Usb connection not working

Hi, I have an Arduino Portenta Machine Controller, and after uploading a sketch, I lost the connection to it. Now, Windows gives me a warning that the device is faulty. I've tried different cables and PCs, but the Arduino still isn't recognized, and nothing changes in Device Manager. Any idea what might be wrong?
I am using Windows 10 and the progam is to interpet Gcode i sent from pythin through usb to the arduino.

I'm not familiar with the Portenta Machine Control. If it has a reset button, will tapping or double tapping result in reactions in Windows device manager?

i belive it is sth with the baut rate i for fun presst the reste button over and over again and it suddelnly popt up again an exaple code wokr with 9600 baut

You might also want to just double check that your USB cable is firmly and solidly plugged in at both computer end and at Portenta end.
I had a similar issue working with my uno rev 3 and I discovered that my connection via usb plug to uno was almost fully plugged in! After unplugging and reconnecting the connection, my issue of identical misery went away!
