Why I love this forum

I've been helping someone with their project behind the scenes, they approached me with a PM and, unusually for me, I decided to help. What I love about their project is they identified the problem, saw Arduino as a possible solution and set about learning enough electronics and programming to get it working. The project isn't finished yet but I am more than impressed by the progress made and the learning this guy has achieved. This is the Arduino project at its best in my opinion, and is the reason I keep coming back here.

that's cool but too bad it was done as a PM

May be other would have benefited if that had been discussed in the open

Circumvented all the arguing, one-up-manship, and other bs that way.

We have a section for that.

Same here, but not on the PM.

I think that help via PM has its place and I have done it myself. Sometimes the number of messages exchanged has been quite considerable as the project develops, changes and expands.

Of course, the conversation is not accessible to others, but if it goes on that long it is not likely to be read in its entirety by many people anyway

I find that my replies in PMs are different in nature to many in the forum and as been noted, using PMs prevents

from intruding

I agree with you whole heartedly.

Unfortunately for me, I love the administrative side (Moving Topics) a bit to much it seems.

sure, I've done it too.

I usually encourage the OP to post something for the community when the project is done or well advanced.

I see that as a way to "pay forward"'

Of course it's nice that someone thinks positive again and also lists the positive aspects; we have a new forum design, which is also more beautiful again, or not....
In any case, you can see it in two ways; once that this post was written to simply also highlight the positive (especially after this discussion that has called the forum into question: What is it about this community?), but of course you can also see it as (I'm not of the opinion) that an "order" has come "from above" to perhaps also attract more visitors to the forum again.
In general, it's just better to write about the positive instead of only looking at the negative.
Therefore I would wish me of you also simply still that you simply write, what beweget you, free of charge in your spare time the trouble to make here messages to post!
Thanks,

It's not a helicopter project is it?

Yes.

Damn you, lol. I think you stole my project. I'm glad to hear it's moving forward forward though if it is the same one.

I think you misunderstood my response. I answered the question you asked, with careful regard to the negative in question.

For clarity I am not providing the help you alluded to.

I now have permission from the guy I've been helping to give his details here; so I've been helping Profile - farmer_giles - Arduino Forum with his egg incubator and hatcher project.

Are we allowed to see code too? I'm curious about monitoring and possible comm's over an extended period.

Now he's given me permission to identify him I suggest you mention him in this topic and ask directly.

As this is in general discussion and is my topic I don't mind if it wanders a bit from my original post.

The reason why I love this forum is because we are honoured with the privilege of teaching others and passing information that we have learnt on.

Me, myself loves "interacting" with and helping people and getting to know others better.
