0.25W & 0.5W 5mm, 8mm & 10mm leds from China on eBay

Has anyone purchased and used or tested these yet? Some claim to withstand currents of up to 200mA. Do they really produce 5 or 10 times the light output of a standard 5mm, 20mA led?

Do their temps remain stable enough that they don't require constant current drivers? The specs provided by sellers on eBay leave much to be desired, as usual. The forward voltages are often quoted at 20mA current, making me wonder what they would be at 10 times as much current.

eBay link: 8mm "straw hat"

Seems they have shoved a power LED chip inside the casing of a common LED.
The chip support pin looks larger than normal. They probably rely on cooling from the circuit board tracks.
Not sure if you should use them as indicator LED on a front panel. Might have to get the sunglasses out.
