12 volt 8 channel relay wiring set up

Hi every body this is my 1st post on this site have just got myself an arduino uno and a duinotch 8 channel relay board rated at 12 volts
i am new to this so i will listen to those that know

I have connected relay to arduiono uno board 5V pin to vcc pin on relay board

GND pin from Uno to GND pin next to VCC pin on relay

relay 1 goes to 6
relay 2 goes to 7
relay 3 goes to 8
relay 4 goes to 9

have written sketch it works on the relay leds going on and off all good but relays are not switching

if I remove 5 V and GND from uno board and connect to 12V supply relay stops working but power light is on but the leds for the individual relays are not blinking as when it was connected to the uno
What am I missing here can some point me in the right direction I don't want to make any smoke yet
regards
Jcneo

It's a 12 V relay board, it will not work with 5 V.

Hi do you know the what the correct wiring is ?

This one?

Optos, two grounds, a com? with a jumper and eight inputs.

Useless product without a proper datasheet with schematic diagram.

Wait for someone here who has one, and knows what he/she is doing.
Or go back to the shop for a personal explanation or a refund.
Leo..

Edit: Seems to be a rebranded Keyes board.

if I remove 5 V and GND from uno board and connect to 12V supply relay stops working but power light is on but the leds for the individual relays are not blinking as when it was connected to the uno

Do not remove the GND, it has to be connected to the GND on the Arduino, even thought it is a 12V supply.

Hi I have worked it out
you remove the 5v and gnd from uno board and connect to 12v supply
connect com signal gnd to uno gnd
All good working fine now Relays are switching and so are the leds
my problem was I thought I would damage boards not know what i'm doing but i took the chance ///..,.''

thanks for your help

Do you need opto isolation.
Do you have opto isolation.
