I would love to see some real innovation in circuit simulators. The one I use is simplistic (in a good and bad way), and I've made a lot of functional circuits by toying with ideas until they worked the way I wanted in the simulator. It lacks power though...
SPICE is incredibly powerful, but the UI is often not intuitive. I think of circuit simulators the same way I think of music sequencers -- if you're concentrating on the tool, you're not concentrating on the art. Maybe I'm just trying to use the right-brain for left-brain work. shrug
