I have been asked to update my passwords monthly and to use longer passwords. This is my solution to remember passwords, seed phrases, key addresses and any other long string of text.
I used an Arduino Beetle with 2X momentary switches and a couple of pull down resistors to select and type my passwords right into the text box for me.
Simple, cheap, and portable project. Can hold and remember all types of text besides passwords. It can hold seed phrases, key codes and paragraphs if needed. Please do not share your personal information with no one.
Do you like sharing your passwords with passer byers? This project can type long passwords into the text field for you. You can have a password that can look like this "QWERDFcvcjas;lyap;wpdffyaajj;a;;fpaouffap;jjhrhafqerua;jkhaQQadpoaudfn". Also, You can have more passwords than a sticky note can hold.
Besides, have you ever seen an Arduino Beetle with a shield?
The point I was trying to make was about "how is this secure"? The passwords seem to be in clear text so anyone getting his hands on your Beetle has all your passcodes ?
You can read the flash memory if there is no protection set.
I guess what I am missing is how do you secure the access to your device if it were to fall in the wrong hands? What prevents me from having it type your passwords for me ? Is there some sort of secret code may be by pushing the buttons in a certain order and tempo or something like this ? (Ie one secret unlocking all your secrets).
Said differently: if I loose my iPhone which holds all my passwords and more, you can’t access it unless you have my face and my secure code. Data at rest is encrypted with high end crypto, so it’s pretty safe and you can’t even wipe it and reuse the phone without my iCloud password and I can set it to automatically wipe itself either through cloud or after a number of false passcode attempts. So I feel safe even if I were to loose it or if it gets stolen.
Would you feel safe if someone had its hands on your device ?
