2560 MEGA + Win 7 x64 Driver Issue

Hello,

I just received my first Arduino (2560 MEGA) and cannot seem to get the drivers functioning. When I plug the device in via USB, Windows 7 says it cannot find the drivers specified (ok). I go to Device Manager, right click the unknown device, Update Driver... From there I go to manual selection (automatic did not work) and point to Arduino 1.0 \ drivers \ Arduino MEGA 2560.inf and it says "The folder specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. if the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with your Windows for x64-based system." The Windows installation is pretty fresh, and I've performed all updates.

Any suggestions on this issue? I've read through what I believe are all the related forums posts here where ultimately the driver selection turns out to be the .INF file I chose above. Like the other user I was able to get it to recognize a driver (unable to replicate), place it under COM3 in "Ports (COM & LPT) in the Device Manager. Please see the attached screenshot.

None of the other drivers in that folder work either. Please see the attached screenshot.

Thank you in advance!

Based on what the value is, we should be able to figure out what driver you should use.

USB\UNKNOWN

Windows is not able to enumerate your device.
Try a different USB cable, if you have one.
Try a different USB port.
Try plugging directly into a USB port, if you are using a USB hub.

That worked for sure. USB hub was the issue.

Thanks very much!

Hi,
I found an old 2560 rev 1 and i'm trying to work with it.
I Have the same problem as described above, but i have USB/UNKNOWN in every usb, and i tried to replace the cable with no success.

(In the past it worked. and now the LED from pin13 blink twice.)

Please help,
Thanks

Isn't there a solution???
Many threds, and none of them work. =(

Every time i try to set the *inf i get the massage
"The folder you specified soesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contain a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems."

I tried the new arduino.inf and the old 2560.inf and even the FDNI drivers. nothing works!

Only once, after i installed Flip 3.4.7 it recognaized the 2560 and worked OK, but after a day, again can't recognaized the device.

The device is 2560 rev 1. win7 x64.
Can i modify the board to rev 2 -> installing a resistor? maybe that will help.
