4 motor or 2 motor for line following robot ?

I decided to build a line following robot.
then i have two options

  1. two motor with caster wheel

  1. four motor line following robot

what is the best option for line follower.?

Generally, they use two motors - it is easier to make sharp turns with such a setup. Cheaper & easier to build too.

In theory best cornering speed needs good tyres and suspension, although this may not
be difficult to achieve on a smooth flat surface - soft enough tyres to act as shock absorber
is probably good enough. Castors have minimal grip, so I suspect a castor-free design can
outperform a two-wheel castor chassis on cornering. Its a common design because it is
simple to drive by dead-reckoning, can turn on the spot and doesn't need the complication
of a steering linkage, not because its the ultimate at speed.

4 wheels without a steering linkage means having to skid the tyres on tight turns, which
loses traction - only a design with a steering linkage like a larger vehicle is going to
be sure-footed I suspect.
