Accidently connected 9V to IOREF pin

Hello all,

I accidentally connected the wrong wire carrying 9 Volt from a battery to the IOREF Pin then switched the Giga on. The Giga R1 has now become unresponsive with the red doom led blinking sequence when powering on. The Giga is not recognised by the the IDE anymore. Double pushing the reset button does not do anything. I tried to burn the bootloader (using STM32CubeProgrammer) and after setting to this mode (Hold BOOT, then press reset, then release both) does stop the red led but no connection to laptop is possible.
Would I have fried my Giga R1 or would there be a way to get it working again?

Best regards, Ben.

Whether you saw smoke or not, you likely let out the 'magic smoke'. Lights are on, but nobody's home...

No smoke mate. The green LED actually lit up, so the board was powered through the IOREF pin. But not much else was happening. Possibly the 9V made it via this pin to the power line directly to the processor.

IF you know someone with a BGA repair station, they could pull the microprocessor and perhaps replace it. Depends on what is on the opposite side of the circuit board.
