So I’m working on a protoboard and I just finished connecting the mpu6050, bmp180, and the adafruit micro sd card breakout board to a nano, when I plug in the nano it and the mpu6050 and bmp180 power on but the adafruit sd breakout doesn’t. When I only power the sd card breakout it powers the circuit for some weird reason, I checked my wiring and everything is correct
But only you are aware of what that wiring looks like. How is everything powered up? I schematic, even hand drawn, would be the first step in getting help
The third wire from the left is in backwards.
That’ll fix it!
It is not weird, it is what to be expected. It is known as parasitic powering. that is the power is being distributed through the static protection diodes. This is one of the best ways of damaging components. NEVER have an integrated circuit with input signals connected but not its own power connected.
That's what you said last time.
And it is just as true now as then. ![]()
In the photo on your other post (which is now locked for cross posting) there are only 2 wires going to the SD card module. How do you expect it to work like that?

This is called "phantom" or "ghost" powering, and occurs because the Arduino is being supplied power through a port pin. It often results in destruction of the Arduino, the powered device, or both.
You should never connect an unpowered device directly to a powered device, without taking the proper safety precautions.
I checked my wiring and everything is correct
Probably not, but that is only a guess. For informed help, please read and follow the instructions in the "How to get the best out of the forum" post.

It looks like you nipped the contacts off 'jumper wires".
That stuff really doesn't take solder ('wet'), it's some kind of plated junk.
Not infrequently aluminium! ![]()
