Any thoughts on the newly released "Raspberry Pi Pico" microcontroller?

At $4 each is this the next revolution?

Sure, there are cheap Arduino clones, but this has the backing of the Rasp Pi foundation.

It will only be interesting to me once there is Arduino support but I'm sure others will be happy enough with the C++ SDK or MicroPython support RPi already provides.

The cheapest I could get the $5 RPi Zero for was $15 after the shipping cost, and there was no option to buy multiples to get the shipping down. Even at $15, it was still a good price, but quite a jump from the "$5 computer" hook. I am not sure whether it will end up being a similar situation with the Pico.

My sentiment is the same as Per.

If they want to jump into the smaller format boards they need to be integrated into the Arduino IDE.
