ArduiNIX - Nixie Controller & Power Supply Shield

Howdy folks, I just wanted to pop in here and announce our first Arduino project... The ArduiNIX.

http://www.arduinix.com/

The ArduiNIX is an Arduino compatible shield which plugs right onto the top of the Arduino board. ArduiNIX takes care of stepping power from a 9vDC wallwart up to a maximum of 200vDC to drive any and all Nixie tubes. ArduiNIX also provides Multiplexed display for up to 80 elements by using 4 anode channels and 20 cathode channels.

Not only does the ArduiNIX provide a nixie tube platform for standard clock functions, but if you can program it using the arduino environment, you can make it happen on your nixie display.

Here's an early version wired up on protoboard to see if we could actually do it.

The website will show you more about it if you're interested, http://www.arduinix.com/

And we have a forum set up here for posting people's projects, questions, etc.

This project is still in progress, we've got code examples on the website, and we're working on add-on boards with precut nixie sockets onboard. It's taken us quite a while to get it to this point, and it's about time to start showing folks.

We're selling the kit on the website, limited quantities as a first run, but will ramp up as need dictates.

Thanks for your time!

Sounds fantastic. It comes with everything I need except the nixie tubes themselves?

I see you're out of stock on the tubes, any idea when/if you're getting more?

Oracle, Howdy!

Yes, it comes with everything you need except for the nixies and whatever resistor is best for your nixie setup.

Meaning, depending on the model of nixie, and how many you drive with the arduinix, you will need the appropriate resistor in the anode channel. Between the arduinix Anode output and the Nixie anode pin.

10K usually is a great place to start.

We have a very small stock of IN-17s left, as soon as we get enough from Russia to have enough on hand to offer in the store, we'll light that option back up.

That is beautiful. Also, some impressively thorough instructions there. One question, though - how much power does it draw? I assume we're well into PSU territory but it would be nice if it could use a small adaptor

I would really like one of your kits. Is it possible to send one to the UK?

Thank you RayGunGothic!

I am sure you can use a small adaptor, I have run the ArduiNIX on a fresh 9volt battery before, so I know it's possible to squeeze it. I'll ask my partner what the actual draw is though.

Yes, we ship to the UK, I just added a dropdown option for international sales on the store page, with an added cost of $11 US to cover international shipping and customs paperwork.

Wow, a 9v battery is pretty good going. I can think of an application I'd like to use this for that has big batteries available, which should cope. Thanks very much for the quick answer and international shipping option - I shall order one tonight!

Ordered, thank you! I'm really looking forward to this. Always liked retro things.
