Arduino and Pixhawk Obstacle Detection

Hi i am trying to do an obstacle detection with arduino and told the pixhawk what to do when ir happpens. I wik use mavlink but i not know how it works well.
I want to know if its possible do ir or if someone did something similar.
I am using arduino UNO
