Arduino controlling a CEM3394 synthesizer chip?

Hey all.

Is it possible for an Arduino to interface with the CEM3394 synthesizer chip? Back in the 80's, it would use a Z80 and a bunch of other circuitry. I am wondering now if something like the an Arduino can do the job. Or am I wrong all together to think that the ATmega32 is right for the task? Linked below is the CEM3394 specs and circuit.
