Hi all! I'm a newbie to Due. I would like to buy such board. I started to read about it and what I was fascinated about was the clock speed - 84MHz. However when I took a look on the PCB I noticed that on the main clock pins XOUT/XIN is attached a 12MHz crystal. So... how is possible for the AT91SAM3X8E MCU to run at 84MHz clock speed? Some kind of frequency multiplier? I searched the datasheet of the SAM3X CPU family but I couldn't notice one.
HI @georgi_t
Yes, the Due does have a frequency multiplier. The SAM3X8E microcontroller uses its on-chip Phase Locked Loop (PLL). For more information see the Power Management Controller (PMC) section in the SAM3X8E dataheet.
