arduino+HD44780

Hello! I just bought my first arduino and I'm totally nood to this!

I just want to test if the lcd I bought with arduino works but I can't make it display something with the LiquidCrystal() library...

Can anyone tell me how can I display anything??? Thanks alot!

this is the display i bought 16*2 HD44780

and the link

this is the display i bought 16*2 HD44780

The little blue trimpot on the top is probably for setting the contrast, try turning it, possibly serveral turns.

If the contrast is turned all the way down you cant see anything on the display.

If this does not help, show us the Arduino code you use.

I tried the examples from LiquidCrystal()

#include <LiquidCrystal.h>

LiquidCrystal lcd(12, 11, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2);

void setup()
{
  lcd.print("hello, world!");
}

void loop() {}

and

#include <LCD4Bit.h>
LCD4Bit lcd = LCD4Bit(1);   //create a 1-line display.
lcd.clear();
delay(1000);
lcd.printIn("arduino");

any help just to type "hello" to see if it is working?

have you connected the pins properly?

they should be as follows:

LiquidCrystal(rs, rw, enable, d4, d5, d6, d7)

LiquidCrystal lcd(12, 11, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2);
