I had installed 1.X.X on Ubuntu 10.4 and was getting compilation errors to an Uno R4 Wifi board. I uninstalled 1.X.X and downloaded the Zip version of 2.3.4. I unzipped and run Arduino-IDE.... seems to just run from the folder and not an install. What am I doing wrong?
The zip versions do run from the folder without an install. This allows different versions, as they are updated, to be kept and used if a problem is suspected in a new version. The reason I only run the zips.
OK, not what I was expecting, but make sense. I am coming from Windows to Linux and I am still trying to get used to things.
Thanks, again
Jeff
I am on Windows, exactly the same there.
There is also the appImage version of the IDE. If it works on (the severely outdated) Ubuntu 10.4 is another question.
