Arduino Lab & MicroPython

Are there any plans to include a forum specifically aimed at the new Arduino Lab & MicroPython or is it there and I just don't see it?

the ESP32 which can be programmed in C/C++ using the Arduino IDE also supports MicroPython

Yes I put MicroPython on an ESP32 DOIT devkit yesterday when I saw the new software, my topic here is to enquire if there will be a dedicated forum for the subject. Thanks for the input I am sure there are others that will find it useful.

I was wondering the same thing. I have installed Arduino Lab for Micropython and used it a little bit. It's kind of rough around the edges but that may improve. So far Thonny is a better choice for a REPL.

Yes it is a little rough around the edges that's why I figured there should be a place to give/receive feedback for those that are interested. On the blog it did say you could leave a message but I couldn't see where.

Not sure who creates the sub-categories here but maybe it’s in the works.

I agree and was wondering the same thing. I hope they add a specific forum (category) for this. This was a really exciting announcement and it would be great for early adopters to have a place to post any problems, questions, etc.

I guess your questionfits better in the dedicated Website and Forum section of the forum  Hence moved.

Hi all. Thanks for your interest in Arduino's MicroPython endeavor.

This project is in an experimental initial phase, so it is too early to add a dedicated forum category. For now, please use the "Installation & Troubleshooting" category for any topics specific to the Arduino Lab for MicroPython development tool and the "Programming Questions" category for topics about Python code.

We will give consideration about the need for a dedicated forum category or categories as the project proceeds.

Formal bug reports, feature requests, and code contributions for the Arduino Lab for MicroPython software can be submitted directly to the developers here:

Similarly, error reports, suggestions, fixes, and enhancements for the documentation content can be submitted to the repository where it is hosted;

@ptillisch thanks for the link I submitted an issue, I can't see it being as interactive as the Arduino forums it's more like playing chess by mail but we will see.
At the moment the new app is unusable for me and I was hoping for a place to discuss my issues with others who might be having similar problems. REPL and Raw REPL in the terminal is the only thing that really works.

Thanks!

It is not intended to be. The ideal process would go like this:

  1. User submits a report.
  2. Developer resolves the report.

In some cases, reports do not provide enough information for the developer to be able to complete the work. In this case, some back and forth is needed.

The Arduino forum is definitely the place for that. The current lack of dedicated categories for Python doesn't change anything. Just find the most appropriate category and post away. The interested parties are sure to see your posts.

@ptillisch kudos to the developers they really are on the ball and helped me resolve the issue I submitted.
