Hey,
I tried to connect via usb-cable to an arduino mega, but the serialport is not showing up. It's only possible to connect, when I restart my Macbook while leaving the arduino plugged in. Of course I cannot always restart the macbook just for establishing the connection. It seems that the driver is there, just not working right. I also installed manually the FTDI-Usb-Serial Driver. But my friends didn't have to install anything except for the arduino ide. But also in the terminal there's no serial connection, while it's there on the other macbooks.
The same problem happens with some arduino unos, not with all. I tried a few different one, but I only have one arduino mega, so I cannot switch to another.
It's working with several other macbooks at my university and also from friends. They just plug the arduino mega in and get the serial connection.
I'm on a Macbook Pro 15 mid 15 with OSX El Capitan 10.11.6.
I tried different versions of the arduino ide, at the moment I'm on 1.8.2. but I should be able to see the serial port without the arduino ide also in the terminal, right? Also the libraries and all are updated in the arduino ide.
Hope someone has an idea. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!
Greets, Sven
