I just finished this project with my daughters.
The point of this project is to make a workstation for developing IoT projects. The Arduino IDE runs on the Pi so you can do all your programming without needing another computer. Then once your project is deployed, you can use this configuration to remote access your Pi, pull up your Arduino code and make adjustments.
