I have the software and GUI for Windows to control 4 pwm ports and 4 on-off 5vdc. Im need to increase all these ports to 12vdc so the 4 pwm will be 12v pwm for dew heaters on telescopes. The other four ports will be 12vdc to power accessories.
I need a schematic on how to do this. Im thinking MOSFETs and a separate 12V 10A supply
To answer your question. Regardless of the voltage you can't power dew heaters with arduino pins, they only supply a few tens of mA.
It is a fairly simple job to make or buy 12VDC modules that use 5VDC logic gates. I used several in my RV for various LED lighting strips.
I am also an astrophotographer. Let me tell you what I use in case that interests you.
My dew heaters and all my gear runs off 5VDC. For power I use LARGE 20,000mAh Powerbanks for the cameras, and Makita power tool batteries with 'special' slide on tops for the dew heaters.
That sounds like an interesting projectthat could be a lot of fun! However, please keep in mind that we are not a free design or code-writing service. We’re more than happy to help with your design or code, but we need you to make an initial attempt. Please design and write your code, then post it along with an explanation of what’s not working properly. There is also a for hire section if you want to pay for it.
Almost everything you want do do has been posted on this forum, spend some time and you will find it. Do the best you can and we will definitely help you. Things you will need to find out is how much current the motors require. Without knowing what you have I can only guess and say you may be able to simply get by with some solid state relays and drive them with your existing hardware.
Show Your Work First: Before asking for assistance, make an attempt to design or write the code yourself. Share your work along with details about what isn’t working.
Provide Clear Documentation: Since we can’t see your project, share an annotated schematic (best) or a clear drawing of your setup. Pictures are welcome, but avoid using Fritzing diagrams as they are wiring diagrams, not schematics, and are not ideal for troubleshooting.
Include Technical Details: If there is specific hardware involved, include links to technical information. There are often many versions of similar components, so precise details are essential.
Im bbastro.org. I currently run 3 rigs. RC8, 80mm, 122mm. all my equipment runs on 12v as almost all astro gear! I use Bluetti power stations for power. My dew heaters are 12v and use approx 330ma.
Im planning on using IRL540N TO-220 Power Transistor MOSFET N-Channel 100V 33A 130W powered with a 12V 10A supply. The 5v pwm isto run the mosfetts.
