avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.

I am using "Arduino as ISP" but with no luck for burning the bootloader, and this is the error message

Could you share your connection schematic/diagram?

Loose connection or adjacent wires shorted to eachother, or wrong connections.

Also, the fact that a board type is listed with signature 0xFFFFFF is a sign that you've been modifying avrdude.conf to try to deal with signature errors. Don't do that, it does not get you closer to a working project.
