I followed the steps in sections 3.5-3.6 to run the DC motor. I've tried running the example a few times, and sometimes the motor spins and sometimes it doesn't. I used simulink to read the battery voltage, which is at 2.5V. I left it connected to the arduino the entire afternoon, and still, it doesn't go higher than 2.5V. How can I charge the battery?

I’m not sure where this information is published or what it’s called. At this point, I’ll take an educated guess and say the battery might be damaged. Assuming it’s a lithium battery, once it discharges below a certain threshold, it’s typically considered failed. Quality chargers check the terminal voltage when connected and won’t attempt to charge if it’s too low.
