Beginner (F)M62429 Help

Hello,

I am attempting to make a digital volume control to replace the pot on a cheap amplifier board.

I have created this circuit based on the various PDF's available for the FM62429 ( http://nice.kaze.com/M62429.pdf ) but I cannot get it to work.

The circuit I have created is like the attached image. I have tested that all the connections are connected on my board with a multimeter... but I dont know how else to debug it. I have tried taking out the chip and connecting vin1 to vout1 and then i can hear audio, so at least those connections are correct. I realise I have not connected the other channel but I dont think that should make a difference?

I have tried the code at GitHub - CGrassin/M62429_Arduino_Library: A simple Arduino library for the FM62429 or M62429P/FP serial data control dual electronics volume chip. replacing the pins with 6 and 7 as in my diagram.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I am not familiar with that part but with the digital pots I simply connect an ohmmeter across the resistance leads. Then change the settings to see what happens.

It looks like the output from that chip can't provide enough current into the low impedance presented by headphones. Try connecting it to an active speaker, that is one with some sort of power supply.

Which will be nothing because the output of this device is a voltage not a resistance. Doing this will probably blow up the chip.

Thanks for the replies! For some reason I dont get notifications from this forum... (or theyre going into some weird box in my email)

I will try connecting the output to something powered! I was just having one last search before giving up and found my own question
