Best buttons for a custom controller

Hello, I am building a controller that I can use for a variety of emulators. I am currently stuck trying to decide which buttons to use for it. I am trying to get it to feel very similar to an actual game controller. I have tried some normal 6x6x5mm buttons with a little 3d-print I designed, but they don't seem to press down enough. In my controller I have a d-pad, 4 regular buttons, start and select, and 2 bumpers.

These are the best pushbuttons I have found...

Much "stiffer" but IP67...

They are also available in 6 mm. I believe they have a version with a longer travel.

Omron beat all the rest. (But I do really like C&K as a company. Sadly their buttons were just not as good. Except the ones that can be used in a breadboard. Then C&K is the best choice.)

Would it be possible to to modify my 3d-design to use these buttons? Do they feel like a game controller? Also would these maybe work?

Hello, I am currently building a project that involves me needing buttons that push down further than most. I need them to kinda be like a keyboard or game controller button. Thanks in advance

Start reading specs & see if throw length is specified.

The switches used in high quality mechanical keyboards are available from quite a few places. Search for "Cherry MX". They come in a variety of configurations (clickyness, etc.) as indicated by color (e.g. red, blue, brown).

You can get keycaps for them in a variety of colors, with or without text, but they usually will be meant for keyboard use so the top is at a bit of an angle. You might find some that aren't angled with a bit of looking around.

Yes, I know but those are expensive and quite bulky. I was thinking more like a game controller button.

If you have a size requirement don't you think it would be helpful to mention that?

GeneralJMan:
quiet bulky.

In the case of the Cherry MX Blue, more like loud bulky.

Well, anyways I am looking for something more like a game controller button.

There's 1012 pages of buttons there - which did you look at?
Try using the filters.
Selecting Active, In-Stock, Through hole and Off-Mom(entary) gets it down to a reasonable 9 pages to look at (some the same, with just color differences or packaging differences). I don't know what game controller buttons are like, you'll have to decide about that.

Wow. You made it 8½ hours before cross-posting. Good for you @GeneralJMan.

Do not cross-post again.

And, I see it has been less than two weeks since the last time we were in this situation.

Should the ban be permanent or do you deserve a THIRD chance?
