Best choice for a diode to protect for reverse polarity

Hey guys,
This topic is probably old but I need advice for a diode to provide a reverse polarity protection in my Low-power circuit. I'm using ESP32 and would like to minimize the consumption.
I was told Schottky diodes 1N5817, BAT54 or MBR0530 could be good choices. Or maybe a diode with a low-threshold voltage like the BAT54A-7-F.
What do you think?

What do these two have to do with each other ?

A Schottky diode would work.

For reverse protection, a modified version of this would work.

Current rating is important in your application. Be sure to get one rated for more current than your circuit requires.

The maximum current is about 100-150mA

Consider the form factor that you can solder.

The 1N5817 is a good trade off.

There are some simple fet circuits for doing this too, google will find them

( lower voltage drop !)

The P-channel mosfet Q1 is the "ideal diode".

Could you help me finding the right reference for the P-Mosfet. Just to be sure. The source of power is between 3.5 and 4.2V and the current is max 180mA.

It could be that Schottky diodes are notorious for high reverse leakage current so would not be ideal for say protection in a battery powered application where the diode is wired in reverse across a fused supply. But, anyway, the P channel mosfet solutions, such as you have shown, are a better solution.

You need a P-MOSFET with a LOW Gate Threshold Voltage

The DMG2301L-7 is a good choice. Mouser for $0.33

Uno/Mega boards use the FDN340P as USB protection diode.
Cheap on ebay if you want large numbers.
