Board selection goes back to "No board selected" when opening a new sketch

I had a sketch open with an Arduino UNO selected in the dropdown.

When I open a new sketch the board selection drop down goes back to "No board selected"

I was expecting the default board selection behavior to maintain whatever board was most recently used. I believe this is what the Arduino IDE 1.8 does?

OS -> macOS Mojave 10.14.6
Hardware -> 2017 iMac

Hi @M_James_O. Thanks for your feedback on the Arduino 2.0.0 beta. This is a known issue, which is documented here by no less than the lead developer of the project:

The current behavior is certainly inconvenient. I'm hoping it will be resolved in an upcoming release.
