Bootloader on new Atmega 328

After installing bootloader on new atmega328 can it be used on Arduino uno to upload sketch.

On Google I found 2 ways

  1. Atmega 328 chip on breadboard connected with Arduino uno with the chip removed to upload sketch.

2.using usb avr programer

My question: after bootloading new atmega328 using any method available....is the atmega328 chip ready for uploading sketch with Arduino uno board dip socket ?
