First, redo calibration and check all connections and solder joints.
Have you tried the esc with a different motor?
This type of ESC will use a timed commutation sequence in order to attempt to get the motor spinning fast enough for sufficient back-emf for sensorless control.
The firmware on the esc attempts a 'one size fits all" approach to starting motors. Sometimes it doesn't work reliably and settings / timings need to be changed.
Try and get some info on the esc and see what programming options it has. See if you can dig up a manual or something.
