Building a audio interface with teensy

I am considering buying an audio interface that has the 4 output channels and it seems like the cheapest option is a £80 (2in and 4 out) behringer audio interface . However, I have seen a few videos on YT about using teensy 4.1 and the teensy audio shield to build an audio interface. I can see from the videos is that there is a teensy app which helps a lot with the coding part, but I have not built any audio device before (only midi controllers with teensy boards), so I don't know whether I would any additional components. I can see that the teensy and the audio shield are not cheap, and just them will be just below £50, so I wander whether it is worth after all. Any advice?

Thanks! No I haven't done that. Will do.

If you just want a working audio interface, no, it's not worth it and you're better off getting a commercial one.
If you want to learn how audio interfaces work, or if you want to do some custom processing on the Teensy, then it will be worth it.

Learning to work with audio is certainly very interesting, and I will do that at some point as I would like to build a DIY synth. But at the moment I am quite keen to put my new mixer to work and I think I will just go for the quick and convenient option... @PieterP thanks for you honest advice.
