Cannot create a portable installation of the Arduino IDE

Hello all,

I am trying to get a portable installation of the Arduino IDE 1.8.10 by following this official guide:

It however doesn't work at all, it still creates the Arduino and ,arduino15 in my home directory and doesn't populate the portable folder I added.

Does anyone have an idea on how to create a fully portable IDE?

I am using Arduino IDE version 1.8.10 on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS.

Hello all,

For reasons that I cannot explain after 3 attempts at downloading and unpacking the arduino 1.8.10 archive it has finally worked. I do not know what caused it to fail the first times, it could have something to do with file permissions.
