Can't connect the Arduino Pro Portenta Machine Control

Hi Guys,

unfortunately I am facing a lot of troubles connecting my Arduino Pro Portenta Machine Control to the PLC IDE. I have done everything that is discussed in various topics:

  • Update the bootloader (File > Examples > STM32H747_System > STM32H747_manageBootloader sketch) in Arduino IDE
  • Did the partitioning of the Memory (File > Examples > STM32H747_System > QSPIFormat sketch)
  • Followed the setup tutorial for PLC IDE (Digital output LEDs flashing red after I downloaded the runtime to the device)

Everytime I try to connect it shows me a red error at the bottom right of the window and the Arduino does not connect. Tried all COM ports, sometimes the software freezes completely.

What I dont have is a 24V DC power supply connected yet, only USB connection. Could that be the reason I cant connect? I dont have any other idea anymore nor do I find any additional help by googeling...

Would be nice if somebody has additional ideas on what to do...

Ok so after further digging inside the forum I found this which solved my problem.

Hard to imaging I am the first one encountering this issue so I am quite disappointed that there is no official guide on this. I lost over 5 hours of work time to finally get this thing connected...
