I've just installed the Arduiono software, but the "port" icon is blind, therefore I can't send anything to my Arduino UNO board. Any suggestion?

I have installed Arduino IDE. But the port their is grayed. I can't upload any code to my Arduino board.
Even in the Device Manager, under Port(Com & LPT), there is no Arduino.
What to do?
Please Help.
I am using Windows 8.1.
