avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.

Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override

         this check.

avrdude done. Thank you.

I am following these instructions: https://docs.arduino.cc/built-in-examples/arduino-isp/ArduinoISP

How can I fix this? Also, where am I supposed to enter "-F"?

no, not doing that. It definitely do not help you to solve the problem, but can add more troubles.
The first and most probable source of your problem - bad or incompatible cable.

In my experience it is more likely a different processor type than expected, hence the "invalid device signature" error

sorry, but can't agree with you. If it were a different processor, the signature of another chip would be read, but here only zeros are read:

This is what happens when the chip just doesn't respond.
