I would like to know if someone has a good solution to talk to a cmos serial device.
The probleme as it seems is the voltage which is 5v on the arduino side and 3.3v on a cmos device. So there is a need for a two-way transceiver...

Most of the cmos parts operate up to 18 volts. If your device doesn't probably you can use a cmos switch 4016 / 4066 to have the circuits separated. That should work up to 16 Mhz. But, please read the datasheets carefully.

sorry, forgotten something: 4016 works from +3volts up to +15volts.
