Commercialization

Hi,

First post here. I've been reading on Arduino lately, and am looking to dive into it sometime in the future.

It really looks exciting and interesting.

So anyways, it looks like Arduino is great for making prototypes and hobbyist electronics in the physical world. Now the question is, how goes the process of commercialization? I assume that you take the Arduino prototype, show it to the manufacturer, and then they create a custom circuit for it?

One of my customers uses an Arduino nano in his product. We program it using the Arduino IDE, just like you do.

Yes, if you are prepared to pay for it, you will find companies that will turn your prototype into a custom circuit.

That will cost you a great deal of money the more you can move it towards the final product the less it will cost. So lay out your PCB and get a prototype made before you ask someone else to do the work. Depending on what it is and where you want to sell it you will also need some compliance testing for emissions and safety.
