Connecting a GY-80 to Arduino DUE without a breadboard... possible?

I have a gy-80 connected to an arduino DUE using a breadboard as in the attached image.

I'd like to make it a little more compact and came across this blog which has a sensor connected directly into the analog pins on the arduino, then seems to adjust them in code to replace Power and Ground http://www.tigoe.com/pcomp/code/arduinowiring/216/

Would this kind of thing be possible with what I have? Or would there be any better ways of setting it up that would get a compact/solid connection?
