Connecting AVR Pocket Programmer to my Leonardo

Which is the correct orientation?

Connecting the Leonardo's ICSP 6 pins to the AVR Pocket Programmer's 10 pins. There are 2 possibilities. Which is correct?

The other pic.

On the Leonardo, pin 1 of the ICSP header is marked on the silkscreen by a tiny white dot. On the programmer cable, pin 1 is marked with a triangle embossed on the plastic. You only need to align pin 1 of the cable with pin 1 of the header.

I use programmers a lot on my boards to tinker around with bootloaders so I use a white paint marker to mark both the header and the programmer cable very clearly so I can always tell the correct orientation at a brief glance. That would probably be a bit overboard for the average person.

I noticed the white dot on the Arduino board adjacent to ICSP pins BUT that arrowhead on the pocket programmer connector for the ribbon is so faint that it's almost unrecognizable.

THANKS!

You're welcome. I'm glad if I was able to be of assistance. Enjoy!

Huh, that's a better method than what I use - I hold the board up to the light and look for the pin that's connected to ground (you can usually see it connected to the ground plane), and that tells me the correct orientation.
