Connecting multiple wires

Hi there, I am looking for what product would be best suited to connect 8 wires from one half of my Arduino circuit to the other.

I have a box with a 3.7v battery, an Adafruit powerboost 1000c and Arduino micro in it, and would like this box to connect to another box with some leds and force resistor sensors. The box with arduino has a wire from 5 different digital pins on the micro, one analog pin on the micro, and the 5v and ground wires that need to be connected to the other box to power the leds and sensor.

I'd like the connection to be somewhat rigid and be less than 1 inch diameter. The connection i'm needing is one where I can attach the boxes together to complete the circuit, but pull the boxes apart to stop the circuit (Non permanent).

Thank you to all who can give me the best possible options.

I am having difficulty imagining what you want to do. Can you give us a picture or diagram?

It depends on how durable you want it to be.

Look up "Dupont connectors" on eBay and such. You can get ribbon cable ready-terminated with these pins and sockets with separate pin housings, and you can also buy grouped "shells" to house the pins and sockets.

So you can with due care, release the single shells from an 8-wire tear-off of ribbon and insert the pins or sockets into a four-by-two "shell".

Forgive the poorly drawn 5 second sketch, but this is what i'm trying to do. Non permanently connect two boxes but try to do it somewhat ruggedly.

As you want the connection to be "somewhat rigid", I suggest you use 8-core burglar alarm cable such as this example.

For the connectors I suggest using 9-pin D-type connectors. Plugs or sockets may be mounted on your boxes. You would need hoods for putting connectors on the ends of the cable. The hood should allow mated connectors to be screwed together if required. Note, soldering is required.

There are many other options.

You can also use rj45 connentors and a normal cat5e patch cable between them.

If OP is just needing to connect the boxes with no intervening cable, then a male and female chassis mount 9-pin D-sub connectors (like you suggested - albeit not for making cables) would likely be perfect. If they're rugged enough for SICK to use them on their LIDAR units, then they are likely rugged enough for OP's app.

Thank you everyone who had input
