Connecting WeMos D1 Mini and microSD shield

Hello,
today I bought myself a WeMos D1 mini V2.2.0 along with microSD card shield. Now I am thinking how to connect those two.

I know that they are ment to be connected like this:

But I would like to know if can I connect them in this way:

Or the WIFI chip will get too hot because it is covered?

How warm does the chip get when it is not covered?

Hi, it seems that wifi does not produce much heat so I soldered the micro sd module just on top of it.
