Controlling BLDC motor with serial monitor

I have a BLDC motor and a esc attached to my arduino Uno. As of now, I am using a potentiometer to control the motor speed. But I wish to be able to control the speed of the motor with the serial monitor. For example, if i were to input 752rpm in the serial monitor, the motor would rotate at that exact RPM.

How would I do this exactly, anything to help me get started is appreciated.

Thank you

That can be done, but I cannot begin to guess how to do it as I have no clue as to what hardware you have or are planning on using. There are many examples on using the terminal to input data to the UNO and how to control motor speed. You need to setup limits and check parameters to that and how to handle exceptions, before you start coding.

There should be examples in the Arduino sample programs of using the serial monitor to input numbers. But, first, can you currently read and display the motor RPM on the serial monitor?

The motor I have is Scorpion SII-2212-885KV (motor) and the ESC I have is Scorpion Commander 12V 11A ESC LBEC.

As of now, I don't have anything display on the serial monitor

It appears you have a problem with your code and or a wiring problem. Guess what information you have not supplied. Post an annotated schematic, be sure it shows all connections, power, ground, and power supplies. I do not bother with frizzies etc as they do not contain enough information to troubleshoot a design and get real bad as the design gets complicated. Also since I cannot see over your shoulder post links to each of the hardware devices that give technical details. Be sure to follow the forum guide lines and use code tags when you upload your code. Before you get much further into this get a copy of the Arduino Cookbook and skim it cover to cover then read the sections applicable to what you want to do.
