I suggest you find some solid state relays designed for AC mains, they are basically triacs with a driver circuit all in one package.
You don't need to, cheap relays are unreliable! If you test one to destruction you can't use it. If you test one and it's OK how will you know if the next one is OK?

I didn't look for relays, but if they are 40 times cheaper they'd have to be 4 pence each.
However, you are not going to damage the light switches doing what you propose.
you could use an arduino style relay to control another relay like the ones they used for a/c contactors, those are usually 24 volts. no matter the rating, I would not put a lot of watts thru a one of these sainsmart devices. '
