Counter and MPH on Garden Tractor - State Machine

RayJorgensen:
Think of it this way. I am your child and you are teaching me how to talk. A child takes no offense, they only take the comment and build on it.

This would be a child younger than 2 years then?

Plus a few!!! I just started learning this stuff last Dec. So much yet to learn. I will look at your links. Thanks

Hi folks, Thought you deserved an update on how this worked.

My measuring wheel is just steel. If it was wet (morning due or after a rain) I'd get slippage. That's easy to solve. I'm going to get some of the paint to put on stairs that has grit in it. Won't effect the circumference by much.

Next problem is if I was on a bit of slope I'd creep before I could get my foot on the brake. That's not hard to solve either. When I hit 20' on the counter, the code will fire an air cylinder (almost instant) to set the brake. This will also allow me not to watch the counter. Trying to see it and keep driving a straight line is almost too much.

With those 2 issues solved that last one is lining up on the first hole to be drilled. Right now someone has to sight me in. Even with that help we were off on a couple. I had a cheap backup camera mounted but I couldn't see the thin wire on the flag. (focus or something is off and no way to change any settings).

I'm thinking of a system that would shoot a laser down the line 90 degrees to the direction I'm planting. There would have to be a way to pickup the signal on the center-line of the auger which would fire my air brake, Setting the first row. From there the measuring wheel takes over. Any ideas on something like this?

Thanks
