CP2102 Driver for ESP32 Boards

I am awaiting delivery of an ESP32 Board that requires the CP2101 driver to be installed. I downloaded the driver and attempted to install it but it just hangs! Does the board need to be plugged in to finish the install, or is there something else I am missing. As always, any help would be much appreciated.

Does Windows still require manual installs? I thought as soon as you plug the board in it automatically installed the right driver. I drive a Mac so have no idea about Windows anymore, left that mess 2017 after 36 years.

@sonofcy It’s a Mac I’m using.

I don't recall ever installing a driver of any kind on my Mac. Wait at least until you get the board.

I just tried to google the driver nae and there is a lot of info. Proceed with caution, I wouod wait for the board and hope it auto installs because what I see is potentially tricky.

You didn't mention that in your previous post, and in at least 9 times out of 10 Windoze is the correct assumption!

@sonofcy I thought it would have been straightforward so tried the install. Tried uninstalling and it didn’t like it either. I’ll wait for the board no and see what happens. I’ll keep the topic open in case I need help!

I just did a finder search for cp2102 from the top of the system disk and had ZERO hits. I use esp32 boards all the time, just this AM I used a DOIT ESP32 to test something. The ONLY file with cp2102 in the name is a pdf I down loaded from somewhere.
I switched to searching for kernel extensions after finding some old info regarding my previous MacAir.
Checking system report
When I plug in one of my esp32 this is what I see

I just got this Mac this year and I have NOT installed any drivers, so it must be built in.

@sonofcy Hope I haven’t caused any issues by trying to install the driver. Time will tell!

Apologies, I thought I had mentioned it!
