I'm starting out with Arduino and before I spend any money I wanted to consult here if what I'm trying to do is even a good idea as practice project or not.
I want to build a laser tripwire alarm (powered with AA batteries) that simply sets off some buzzer when the laser line is interrupted. Ideally it would have a button to turn it on/off and ideally I should be able to expand it in the future to, for example, send an email when the alarm goes off.
What would be the most convenient Arduino model and sensor for this project?
