Data acqusition from pyrometer using MAX485 and Arduino MEGA

That may suggest that the sensor outputs its reading via a 4-20mA current loop.

This discussion may help but analogue electronics isn't my strong point:

We are using CSMA model. My plan is to connect the sensor directly to MEGA2560. Do you have any suggestions to this connection?

I downloaded the operators manual from the optris website and it show diagrams for the CSMA and CSMV but the data sheet you posted shows different models.

So I have to ask again which do you have.

This model is from the model manual I'm currently working on. It's CSMA (3.3V & 2.5V).

Because the voltages are not compatible with the MEGA some additional voltage translation circuitry will be needed.

Alright, do you have any suggestions to connect this sensor to Mega?

Maybe i've lost the plot, but why are voltages still being discussed when @wilson_kishore1 has said in post #35:

And the table provided in the same post shows for the CSMA variant:

4-20mA/scalable (current loop between Power and GND pin)

Thank you for your support

I want to directly connect the sensor to Arduino MEGA and see if I can read temperature. I have one doubt, will the sensor continuously read temperature from 20°C to 700°C and is it possible to do real-time control of the HF generator to induce heat to reach target temperature and reduce heat to control temperature on the specimen.

As has already been explained you cannot since the voltage levels are different.

real-time control of the HF generator

What is this?

If that is the temperature range that your specific sensor is configured for, then it will report temperatures in that range. Assuming that your specific sensors output is via a 4-20mA current loop, then it will be reporting continuously.

What's an HF (High Frequency?) generator. How is it controlled from an external device?

By reading the temperature from the sensors, we will turn on and off the High Frequency generator which is generates heat for induction brazing.

I want to control this by Arduino, currently the HF generator is controlled by a Maurer PID controller, here is the link to the product:

You won't be able to do anything until you determine the pin assignment of that 15 pin connector.

Hello, This is the pin 15 pin configuration.

For those of use who don't speak German - courtesy of Google Translate:

We're almost at post #60 - what have you tried besides the RS232/RS485 you mentioned back in post #1?

Have you managed to get anything approaching a sensible reading using the 4-20mA signal?

I tried a TTL to RS232 converter but it still gave junk output. Currently I'm thinking about connecting sensor out to MEGA directly as you have mentioned in the post #12

That is because you need the level shifters

Could you explain a little more or do you have any post to suggest me?
