DC DC Isolation for Arduino

Hi

is anyone aware (in the UK) of an off the shelf DC-DC converter, isolator to power an Arduino?

Input voltage 10.5 to 16v (12v nominal).

I've found plenty of single components on RS, but I'm not sure if I can use these in isolation or have to combine them with other components.

Please be aware that I've very little electronics experience!

Thanks!

Colin

What is it you are trying to achieve? If you want to convert down DC to DC those are available on eBay (we sell them) but they don't isolate as far as I know.

Hi

i've a GND issue that can only be resolved with an isolated power supply. Unfortunately, I can't use AC 5v wall adapters as it's a pure DC system.

Thanks for looking.

Colin

How do you mean? What ground are you trying to isolate from and why? You could just use a battery.

i could use a battery, you're right.

I just found this:

That looks like it would do it...

Trying to figure out why people want to do something (which may not be the best way in the first place) is like pulling teeth. So many top secret projects with such valuable IP.

I'd guess he is trying to make some guitar effects pedals!

Yes, batteries are a good way forward on a budget, a power supply is better if this is something you do a lot of.
Remember current!, put a fuse in there or set limits on PSU.
