Detect touching of the window frame.

Hello everyone,
I have the following problem. We have a dog at home. It has a bad habit of jumping against the window. Now I want to correct him by reprimanding him every time he jumps, even when we are not around. Via a siren, a light, ...
My specific question. The surface of the window is 3m wide, and the dog touches the glass between the ground and 2m high. How can I best detect that the dog's paw is in that 6 square metre area? It has to be a real plane because if he sits right in front of the window, nothing should happen.
Any suggestions?

Back in the 1980's I made an alarm system. A few of the sensors I used detected the surface tension of the window, glass pane. Touching the glass, disturbed the surface tension resulting in an alarm. Perhaps detecting the surface tension of the glass may be good for you?

I did something similar many many years ago. I sensed capacitance when somebody got near the glass it tripped. Down side I had to put a ring of wire around the window. Burglar alarm tape is what I used. The circuit was a simple oscillator with the antenna (wire) attached to it. Then I powered it through a resistor and measured the voltage drop across with a comparator, when the oscillator loaded it drew more current. That tripped my alarm, there was no micro involved and it was all 24VDC. I do not have a clue if this will work for you but it did for me.

An off-the-shelf glass breakage sensor, with adjustable sensitivity may work. Example on Amazon (supposedly will go off even if the glass doesn't break...ymmv.)

I know, I know...not as much fun as DIY......

Vibration (from the glass).
Sound (from the dog hitting the glass and/or barking).
Break beam (in front of the window - beam is broken by the jumping dog).

But the best solution of all would of course be to walk the dog more, or give it another appropriate way of getting rid of that energy. But hey, where's the fun in that?

Keeping things simple I would start by trying a simple piezo sensor scheme and then if that didn't pan out focus on as mentioned a glass break sensor. A piezo sensor should pickup the vibrations of the dog hitting the glass door. Then just add features as you want or need. Piezo sensors even come with adhesive backing making an easy stick to the window. The main problem I see is if this is a moving window like a large sliding glass door wires may get in the way.
