Display from old tablet is of any use?

Hi Everyone,

I have a very old tablet, that i no longer use, so i'm wondering if some parts from it can be reused with some arduino+raspberry projects.

Since it is a LCD unit + TouchScreen so it could have many uses.

Now what i'm not sure is what i need, i suppose that probably it need a specific controller in order to become usable with other devices (i suppose that if i'm going to use a raspberry it should probably be able to recognize it since android is still based on linux, so hopefully the kernel supports it).

And also there is another problem: i'm not able to identify the Display model, i looked everywhere on it's surface and can't find any identification code, the only code that i found was related to the touchscreen device DPT-N3788E-G/I but nothing that looks related to the display (i'm not sure if the display has just a metal wrapping around and some identification code is inside).

Is possible to identify somehow the display? The tablet is a maxell maxtab c8, of course i googled a lot about the display unit, but i didn't get any information, tried to looks also at kernel dmesg command, but wasn't able to spot any display model reference (it could be possible that i missed it, given the amount of log produced).

Do you think i will i be able to reuse it for other purposes (is a very nice display, and it will be a pity to have to throw it away)

Does it run its original sw? It may be easier to turn the whole unit into a smart display rather than extracting just the bare (and Ronald Lynn stupid) display panel.

Yes, it still run the original android software (is an old android 4 rom).

Use the browser on the Tablet as a general purpose display.
