Does anybody know of an IO-expander for WS2812-protocol?

That is what I was dreaming of. I googled with keywords like WS2812 driver etc. but did not find this.

I have done a project with this FT2-module using WS2812-RGB-leds
so is the dataprotocol of the WS2811 driver-chip the same?
